color gamut

The range of reproducible color in a digital image, video, or display. Color gamut can also be used to mean the range of colors in a color space.

Traditional displays support a limited color gamut called Rec. 709. Rec. 709 devices (and the content created for display on them) have standard-gamut color, a constrained color palette. A newer generation of displays support a larger color gamut called Rec. 2020. Rec. 2020 devices (and the content created for display on them) have wide-gamut color.
