Add, remove, and edit photos in a shared album in Photos on Mac
You can add, remove, and update photos and video clips in an album that you shared.
Add items to a shared album
In the Photos app
on your Mac, click a shared album under Shared in the sidebar.Click “Add photos and videos.”
Select the photos, video clips, and Live Photos that you want, then click Add.
Subscribers to your shared album can play the video in the Live Photos. To share Live Photos as still images only, see the next task.
Share items from a moment or collection to a new or existing shared album
In the Photos app
on your Mac, select the photos, video clips, or Live Photos you want.Click the Share button
in the toolbar, then choose Shared Albums.Do any of the following:
Add a comment: Type a comment in the comment box.
Share Live Photos: To let viewers play a Live Photo, select the Live Photo checkbox. Deselect the Live Photo checkbox to share the Live Photo as a still image only.
Add the selected photos to a shared album: Click a shared album name.
Add the selected photos to a new shared album: Click New Shared Album, enter an album name, click the Plus button and invite others to see your shared album, enter a comment if you want, then click Create.
Remove items from a shared album
In the Photos app
on your Mac, click a shared album under Shared in the sidebar.Select the items you want to remove, press Delete, then click Delete.
Photos removes the items from the shared album, but leaves the original items in your library.
Important: If you delete photos or videos that others added to the shared album, you won’t have copies of them in your library. If you want to keep these items, download them from the shared album before deleting them.
Edit a photo in an album shared by others
To edit a photo or video in an album someone else shared with you, you must first import the photo into your library. You can then edit it as you would any other photo. Edits you make to the photo in your library don’t change the original photo in the shared album.
In the Photos app
on your Mac, click a shared album under Shared in the sidebar.Navigate to the photo you want to edit, double-click it, then click Edit.
Click Import.
Click Edit.
Make changes to the photo, then click Done.
Your edited photo appears in the Imports album and in a moment in Photos view. To move the edited photo to another album, select it, choose Image > Add to, then create a new album or place the photo in an existing one. To add the edited photo to the shared album again, click Shared in the toolbar, open the shared album, then click “Add photos and videos.”
