iMac (24-inch, 2023, Two ports) Battery
Before You Begin
Remove the following parts before you begin:
Tools
Nylon probe (black stick)
Support wedge kit (076-00507)
Torque driver (teal, 0.75 kgf cm) (923-08085)
Torx Plus 3IP half-moon bit (923-08468)
Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.
Important
This model requires a CR2016 battery. Replacement batteries can be purchased from electronics supply retailers.
Removal
Turn over the logic board to access the battery.
Use the teal torque driver and 3IP bit to remove the two 3IP screws (923-09787) from the battery cover. Then lift the battery cover with the battery off the logic board.
Turn over the battery cover. Then remove the battery from the battery cover.
Note: If necessary, use the black stick to remove the battery from the battery cover.
Reassembly
Warning
Install only a CR2016 battery. There's a risk of explosion if the battery is installed incorrectly or replaced with an incorrect type of battery. Dispose of used batteries according to local environmental laws and guidelines.
Insert the battery into the battery cover with the positive side (+) facing down.
Turn over the battery cover with the battery and position it on the logic board. Align the screw cutouts in the battery cover with the screw holes in the logic board.
Use the teal torque driver and 3IP bit to reinstall the two 3IP screws (923-09787) into the battery cover.
