Use VoiceOver with plug-ins in GarageBand for iPhone
You can use VoiceOver gestures in GarageBand for iPhone to add plug-ins and Audio Unit Extensions to tracks, access parameters for Audio Unit Extensions, and use the Visual EQ plug-in.

Add a plug-in to the selected track
Navigate to the Track Controls button in the control bar, then double-tap.
Navigate to the Plug-Ins & EQ button, then double-tap.
The list of plug-ins for the selected track opens, and the Bypass button of the first plug-in is selected.
Swipe left until you hear “Edit button” then double-tap.
The plug-in list expands to Edit mode, where you can add, delete, and rearrange plug-ins. Items in the list labeled “None” are empty slots where you can add a plug-in.
Swipe right until you hear “None,” then double-tap.
A list opens containing plug-ins that you can add to the selected track.
Navigate past the GarageBand Effects heading to the list of plug-ins, then double-tap the plug-in you want to add.
The plug-in is added to the selected track and GarageBand exits Edit mode.
Navigate to the plug-in you want to edit, then double-tap to access its settings.
Add an Audio Unit Extension to the selected track
If you’ve enabled Apple-designed Audio Unit Extensions in the Settings app or installed Audio Unit Extensions from other manufacturers on your iPhone, you can add them to the list of plug-ins on the selected track.
Navigate to the Track Controls button in the control bar, then double-tap.
Navigate to the Plug-Ins & EQ button, then double-tap.
The list of plug-ins for the selected track opens, and the Bypass button of the first plug-in is selected.
Swipe left until you hear “Edit,” then double-tap.
The plug-in list expands to Edit mode, where you can add, delete, and rearrange plug-ins. Items in the list labeled “None” are empty slots where you can add a plug-in.
Swipe right until you hear “None,” then double-tap.
A list opens and the Effects button is selected.
Swipe once to the right to select the Audio Unit Extensions button, then double-tap
Navigate past the Audio Unit Extensions heading to the list of Audio Unit Extensions, then double-tap the Audio Unit Extension you want to add.
The Audio Unit Extension is added to the list of plug-ins the selected track, and GarageBand exits Edit mode.
Navigate to the plug-in you want to edit, then double-tap to access its settings.
Edit Audio Unit Extensions
If the interface of an Audio Unit Extension is difficult to navigate to and edit with VoiceOver gestures, you can turn on Edit view to improve access to the parameter controls.
After you Add an Audio Unit Extension to the selected track, open the Plug-ins & EQ list.
See steps 1 and 2 of Add a plug-in to the selected track.
In the Plug-ins & EQ list, navigate to the name of the Audio Unit Extension you want to edit, then double-tap.
The interface for the Audio Unit Extension opens.
Navigate to the Edit button, then double-tap.
Accessible controls for each parameter are available.
Navigate to a control, then swipe up or down to adjust it. To adjust in smaller increments, double-tap and hold until you hear three rising tones, then drag up or down.
To close the plug-in, navigate until you hear “Done,” then double-tap.
Open and edit the Visual EQ
Open the Plug-ins & EQ list.
See steps 1 and 2 of Add a plug-in to the selected track above.
In the Plug-ins & EQ list, navigate to the Visual EQ, then double-tap.
The interface for the Visual EQ opens and the Bass puck is selected.
Navigate to any of the frequency pucks and do any of the following:
Swipe up or down to raise or lower the gain of the frequency band.
Double-tap and hold until you hear three rising tones, then drag vertically to raise or lower the gain, or drag horizontally to raise or lower the frequency.
To close the Visual EQ, navigate until you hear “Done,” then double-tap.
