Where you can ride transit using Apple Pay

Learn where you can ride transit using Apple Pay on your iPhone and Apple Watch.

Australia

  • Sydney: Transport for NSW. Accepts payment cards in the Wallet app*.2,3

Hong Kong

Japan

  • Land Transport Authority (LTA). Accepts payment cards in the Wallet app.

  • Kaohsiun and Taoyuan Airport MRT. Accepts payment cards in the Wallet app.

  • San Francisco Bay Area: Add a Clipper card*. Ride anywhere this card is accepted.11,14

  • Washington, D.C.: Add a SmarTrip card*. Ride anywhere this card is accepted.11,15

  1. To use Apple Pay you need a supported card from a participating card issuer. To check if your card is compatible with Apple Pay, contact your card issuer. Apple Pay is not available in all markets. View Apple Pay countries and regions. Features are subject to change. Some features, applications, and services may not be available in all regions or all languages. Some features require specific hardware and software. For more information, see Feature Availability.

  2. Only for purchase of adult full fares.

  3. To use Express Transit in Sydney and New York, you need a debit or credit card set up in the Wallet app and set as your Express Transit card on an iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE (2016), or later running the latest version of iOS. Or, an Apple Watch Series 1 or later running the latest version of watchOS.

  4. Tickets and daily passes may be purchased directly in Wallet. To add a Navigo Weekly and/or Monthly pass to your Navigo card in Wallet, you need to purchase the pass via the Ile-de-France Mobilités app. For a list of tickets not eligible to purchase or use in Wallet, see the Ile-de-France Mobilités website.

  5. Express mode is not available on some buses as marked, and you must authenticate to validate your ticket in Wallet on those buses.

  6. To add a Navigo card to Wallet, you need an iPhone XS or SE 2 or later with iOS 17.5 or later. Or, an Apple Watch Series 6 or SE 2 or later with watchOS 10.5 or later.

  7. PRESTO cards in Apple Wallet are not accepted on OC Transpo in Ottawa.

  8. To add a PRESTO card to Wallet, you need an iPhone SE (2nd Gen) or iPhone 8 or later with iOS 16.4 or later, or an Apple Watch Series 4 or later with watchOS 9.4 or later. Payment cards can only be used for adult full fares. Credit cards and internationally issued Visa and Mastercard debit cards can be used with Express Transit in Wallet. Interac debit cards can be used by double-clicking on the side button on the device.

  9. Ventra transit cards in Wallet are not accepted on Pace paratransit or Metra.

  10. To add a Ventra transit card to Wallet, you need the Ventra app downloaded on an iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE (2016) or later running the latest version of iOS. Or, an Apple Watch Series 1 or later running the latest version of watchOS.

  11. To add a TAP, Clipper, or SmarTrip transit card to Wallet, you need an iPhone 8 or later with the latest version of iOS. Or, an Apple Watch Series 3 or later with the latest version of watchOS.

  12. Not accepted on AirTrain JFK, Access-A-Ride, or for onboard fare payment on LIRR or Metro-North.

  13. Only for purchase of adult full fares. To add a Hop card to Wallet, you need the Hop Fastpass app downloaded on an iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE (2016) or later running the latest version of iOS. Or, an Apple Watch Series 1 or later running the latest version of watchOS.

  14. In order to use Clipper with Apple Pay on SFMTA cable cars, and other transit services using handheld card readers, all customers must authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID.

  15. SmarTrip transit cards in Wallet are not accepted on MARC, VRE, or MTA vehicles.
