How to edit videos on your iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Vision Pro
The Photos app lets you change the length of your video or slow it down directly from your device.
Trim your video
Got a video that's too long to send via Mail or Messages? Or maybe you just want to share part of a video with your friends and family? With the Photos app, you can change the start and stop time to make your video shorter.
How to trim a video on your iPhone or iPad
Open the Photos app and tap the video that you want to edit.
Tap the Edit button
.Move the sliders on both sides of the video timeline to change the start and stop times. To preview your trimmed video, tap the Play button
. 
Tap Done, then tap Save Video or Save Video as New Clip.
Save Video will only save the trimmed version of the video. Using the Save as New Clip option will keep the original version, as well as creating an additional trimmed version in your library.
How to trim a video on your Mac
Open the Photos app and double-click the video that you want to edit.
Click Edit.
Move the sliders on both sides of the video timeline to change the start and stop times. To preview your trimmed video, click the Play button
.Click Done, then click Save Video or Save Video as New Clip.
How to trim a video on your Apple Vision Pro
Open the Photos app and tap the video that you want to edit.
Tap the More button
, then tap Trim.Move the sliders on both sides of the video timeline to change the start and stop times. To preview your trimmed video, tap the Play button
.Tap Done, then tap Save Video or Save Video as New Clip.
How to undo a video trim
On your iPhone or iPad: open the video you’ve trimmed. Tap the Edit button. Tap Revert, then tap Revert to Original.*
On your Mac, open the video that you trimmed. Click Edit. Click Revert to Original, or move the sliders back to the beginning and end of the video. Then click Done.
On your Vision Pro: open the video you’ve trimmed. Click Edit. Move the sliders back to the beginning and end of the video, then click Done.
* If you're editing a video that you created using the Save Video as New Clip function, tapping Revert to Original will undo any edits that you've made, such as adjusting exposure or adding a filter. However, it won't restore the video back to its original length.
Add a filter and rotate your videos
After you've taken your video, open it in the Photos app and tap Edit. You can rotate, add a filter and adjust the look of your video in the Photos app. If you're not happy with your changes, tap Cancel to revert it back to the original.
On your Mac, open the Photos app and click Edit to adjust the look of your video. If you're not happy with your changes, click Revert to Original or Reset Adjustments.
Adjust the video playback speed
If your video is captured at a frame rate higher than 30FPS, you can slow down the video for a dramatic effect in iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS Sequoia.
Open the Photos app.
Open a video, then tap or click the Edit button
.Tap or click the Speed control button
, then tap or click a playback speed.
Customise your slo-mo video or section
After you’ve recorded with the slo-mo camera mode or adjusted the video playback speed, you can edit which part of your movie plays with the slow motion effect. That means your video can be played at regular speed and slow down for any details that you don't want your viewers to miss.
In Photos, open the slo-mo video you want to edit, tap or click the Edit button, then use the vertical white lines in the video timeline to set when slo-mo begins and ends.
Edit Audio Mix
When you capture a video with Spatial Audio on iPhone 16 models, you can change the video sound after to focus more on voices, reduce background sounds and more.
How to edit Audio Mix on your iPhone or iPad
Open the Photos app on your iPhone or iPad.
Open a video, then tap the Edit button
.Tap Audio Mix, then choose any of the following:
Standard: play the original audio you recorded.
In-Frame: reduce sounds and voices from sources not visible in the video frame.
Studio: reduce background sounds and reverb to make it sound more like you’re recording in a professional studio.
Cinematic: put all of the voices onto a front-facing track and leave environmental noises in surround, like the audio in films.
Drag the intensity slider below the video to reduce or increase the effect and background noise levels.
Tap Done.
