iMac (24-inch, 2023, Two ports) Fan
Before You Begin
Remove the following parts before you begin:
Tools
2.5 mm hex nut driver (923-06028)
Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm) (923-02995)
ESD-safe tweezers
Nylon probe (black stick)
Support wedge kit (076-00507)
Torx Plus 3IP 25 mm bit (923-07593)
Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.
Removal
Position the housing with the logic board facing up.
Use ESD-safe tweezers to peel back the polyester film tape on the fan flex cable.
Use the black stick to flip up the locking lever on the end of the fan flex cable connector.
Spread the tips of the ESD-safe tweezers and insert one tip under the wide portion of the fan flex cable, as shown, to loosen the adhesive between the fan flex cable and the logic board. Then pull the fan flex cable out of the connector.
Caution: Don’t touch any of the small components on the logic board. Keep the tweezers parallel with the logic board surface to prevent damage.
Use the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and 3IP bit to remove the 3IP screw (923-09906) from the fan.
Use the 2.5 mm hex nut driver to remove the 10 2.5 mm hex screws from the logic board:

Slightly tilt the logic board away from the housing as shown (1). Then slide the edge of the fan out from under the logic board to remove the fan from the housing (2).
Caution: Don’t bend the logic board as you tilt it.
Reassembly
Slightly tilt forward the logic board (1). Then slide the edge of the fan under the logic board (2). Ensure that the screw holes in the fan and logic board align with the screw holes in the housing.
Caution: Don’t bend the logic board as you tilt it.
Use the 2.5 mm hex nut driver to reinstall the 10 2.5 mm hex screws into the logic board.

Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 10 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and 3IP bit to reinstall the 3IP screw (923-09906) into the fan.
Slide the end of the fan flex cable into the connector (1). Then flip down the locking lever (2).
Press the polyester film tape over the end of the fan flex cable.
Press the fan flex cable to adhere it to the logic board.
Important: If you’re installing a new fan, first connect the fan flex cable to the logic board. Then remove the release liners from the fan flex cable and press the flex cable to adhere it to the logic board.
