iPhone 12 TrueDepth Camera
Before You Begin
Warning

The TrueDepth camera includes one or more lasers. Disassembly of the TrueDepth camera, damage to the TrueDepth camera, or failure to use genuine Apple parts could expose you to hazardous infrared laser emissions, possibly resulting in injuries to eyes or skin.
Remove the following part before you begin:
Tools
6.1-inch repair tray
ESD-safe tweezers
Nitrile gloves
Nylon probe (black stick)
Important
If you replace this part, it is required to run Repair Assistant in order to enable security features. Repair Assistant will be available on the device after you’ve completed all reassembly steps.
Removal
Place the enclosure in the repair tray with the Lightning connector facing the cutout.
Put on the gloves to prevent contamination of the camera lenses.
Use ESD-safe tweezers to lift the ends of the three TrueDepth camera flex cables off the connectors.
Note: One TrueDepth camera flex cable covers the third flex cable.
Use the flat end of the black stick to separate the adhesive between the TrueDepth camera flex cables and the enclosure as shown.
Gently hold the TrueDepth camera flex cables together. Then lift the TrueDepth camera assembly at a 45-degree angle to disengage the grounding pin on the left.
Then slide the TrueDepth camera assembly out of the enclosure.
Reassembly
Put on the gloves to prevent contamination of the camera lenses.
Remove the three release liners from the back of the replacement TrueDepth camera assembly.
Inspect the back of the TrueDepth camera assembly to ensure that the grounding foam and grounding springs are intact. If any of these are missing or damaged, replace the TrueDepth camera assembly.
Hold the TrueDepth camera flex cables together and turn over the TrueDepth camera assembly.
Tilt the top edge of the TrueDepth camera assembly under the lip of the enclosure and to the right.
Then gently slide the left side of the TrueDepth camera assembly under the lip of the enclosure to engage the grounding pin.
Inspect the TrueDepth camera assembly to ensure that the top edge of the TrueDepth camera is under the lip of the enclosure and the grounding pin is flush with the enclosure
Press the ends of the three TrueDepth camera flex cables to the connectors.
Lightly press the TrueDepth camera flex cables on the areas shown to adhere the flex cables into place.
Use ESD-safe tweezers to remove the protective covers from the TrueDepth camera.
Inspect the True Depth camera. Ensure that the top edge of the True Depth camera is under the lip of the enclosure.
Caution
If the TrueDepth camera is positioned incorrectly, use the black stick to move it into the correct position.
Don’t touch the front of the TrueDepth camera assembly after the protective covers are removed
Reinstall the following part to complete reassembly:
