*** I don't sell NFTs. If you see any of my art on an NFT marketplace, don't buy it. Please share the URL with me so I can report it. ***
Can I reupload your work?
Preferably not but if you do please ask me for permission to reupload my work. Usually the only thing I ask for in return is that you credit me properly by linking back to my gallery or social media account in the caption. I usually include Tumblr, Twitter, and Instagram links to the pieces I upload so you can reblog, retweet or share the image in an Instagram story instead of reposting. Please do not edit the descriptions on Tumblr if you reblog there.
If you are a commissioner who has purchased the piece you may also upload it on your own account(s). I will always include a file with watermarks for any online usage.
You absolutely can NOT reupload a piece without crediting me or claiming that the piece is yours.
Can I use your artwork in [non-private use]?
Yes, if the purpose is non-profit and you ask my permission first. This applies to non-private usage such as school projects, online use etc.
General rule; please credit me and don't claim ownership of the image and absolutely do not make profit off my work.
Can I use your artwork in my school project/for other educational purposes?
Absolutely! If it's not a commission you're free to use it in your school project (animation, 3D modeling etc.) As long as it's non-profit of course. I would also very much like to see the end result if possible!
Can I use your artwork in my other (non-profit) project?
No. If the project is meant to be public and shared freely online I do not approve of it. This involves trading card games, TTRPGs, role playing etc. You also may not use my art on your community servers such as Discord.
Can I use your artwork as a thumbnail for my video/as an advertisement even if it’s non-profit?
No, you may not use my artwork as any sort of advertisement whether it’s for profit or non-profit.
Can I feature your artwork in a deviantART journal/blog post?
Absolutely! Just remember to credit me. You don't need to ask my permission for this. Do let me know if you do, I might want to check it out!
Can I put your artwork as my desktop/phone/pad wallpaper?
Yes! If it's for private non-profit use I see absolutely no problem with it. You don't need to ask my permission for this.
Can I have/purchase a high-resolution version of a drawing?
No, I would rather not send out any hi-res (and/or unwatermarked) versions of my art unless it's a commission and you're the commissioner.
Can I use your art as a tattoo?
Yes, but you must purchase a tattoo ticket from my Etsy shop: www.etsy.com/shop/ShinonArt
With this ticket you will gain permission to use one of my existing artworks as a tattoo design for a single time, exept for commissioned pieces/client work, and take it to your tattoo artist to get it done. If you are not sure if the artwork is a commission don't hesitate to ask!
I saw your artwork sold/used in...
Please let me know if you see my art sold or used anywhere without credit! I only sell my artwork via my own shop and limited printing platforms and a handful of Finnish retailers so if you see my artwork used on any product or being sold otherwise let me know so I can report it.
Do you offer licensing for your art?
Not at the moment.
GENERAL
Do you take commissions/point commissions?
Yes, I do take commission! If you are interested in one, go ahead and contact me either via email or note even if it seems my commissions are closed. I can still answer any questions and give quotes or a rough estimate when I would be able to do your commission.
I do NOT take point commissions by default.
Do you take requests/art trades/collabs?
Generally those are for friends only. I absolutely do not take requests unless I specifically ask for them. Generally I do not have time for these so the answer will be no.
Can you take part in my contest/join group/community?
Sorry, I most likely won't have time to join any contest on dA. I used to do this a lot back in the days but now I'm simply too busy to do it. I can join your group but I am, again, too busy to join any activities. Same goes for communities. I appreciate the invites but most likely I will be too busy to be very active anywhere.
Did you get my comment/note?
Unless deviantART bugged, I definitely did, however I get a lot of messages and sometimes they build up and clearing them up takes days. I'm too busy to devote enough time to respond to each of them but I do appreciate the comments I get. Sometimes I might just forget to reply, especially if I have thought of a lengthy reply but decide to do it later. (Never works) If your message/note is a question about something important like commission or other purchase and I have not responded I might just be busy. If you are worried feel free to send the message again! But please try to reserve my notes for most pressing/private things only and my email for commission/art purchase related messages.
Can I add you on Skype/can we be friends?
Unfortunately I do not add people I don't know on Skype. I'm a rather private person and I don't want to share my personal spaces with people I don't know.
Also, I find it a bit uncomfortable when people approach me and directly ask me if we can be friends. Unfortunately that is how it works for me. Please don't be offended, I have nothing against you, but I don't feel comfortable suddenly becoming friends with strangers.
Can you make a tutorial of __/tell me how to do this?
Wish I could! There are many things I would like to make tutorials about since they might answer a lot of questions you might have (this is WATERCOLOUR??) but I'm too busy to make them. I do stream my art process on my Twitch account occasionally (both digital and traditional art) and during the stream you can always ask questions in the chat! www.twitch.tv/shinonsparce
I also make occasional process videos on Youtube. www.youtube.com/channel/UCopol…
What do you use to draw?
I'm a varied artist and I do both digital and traditional art. For digital art I primarily use Procreate on iPad Pro or Clip Studio Paint on my Wacom Cintiq 22.
Is this piece traditional?
Yes, many of my pieces are fully traditional and I hardly ever do mixed traditional/digital. Many of my pieces might fool you, but I assure you, if it says it is traditional it is traditional.
What brushes do you use?
Same applies for both traditional and digital brushes: I have gathered brushes along the years and my collection is very mixed so I really don't know. Some of the collections you can find in my favourites folder "Brushes and textures": shadeofshinon.deviantart.com/f…
I have been using Procreate on iPad Pro 12'9 since 2019 and I use the default Procreate brushes. My go-to for anything painterly is the Nikko Rull brush. I do my lineart with the HB pencil and I use the airbrushes and spray cans for a lot of things like shading and laying the local colours. That's my basic toolkit. I also use the lasso tool a lot when shading and I utilize the Save & Load selections which is kinda like layer masks in Photoshop. I use random brushes for any special effects/special needs as I see fit.
How big are your drawings?
Traditional pieces range from A5 to A3. I start my digital pieces at 6000 x 6000px 300dpi and resize/crop them as needed.
How long does it take you to make a drawing?
This depends entirely on the piece. Rough average would be 10 hours but some pieces take me only a few hours while some may take over 20 hours.
