The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is an international community where member organizations, a full-time staff, and the public work together to develop standards across the internet. Every year the W3C holds combined Technical Plenary and Advisory Committee meetings (TPAC). This year TPAC 2018 took place at Cité Centre des Congrès de Lyon, France from October 22 until October 26. Sovrin Foundation CTO Nathan George attended this week of coordinated work along with Software Architect and Open Standards Engineer, Ken Ebert.
These face-to-face meetings and informal discussions are extremely valuable in supporting Sovrin’s efforts. The Sovrin Foundation participates in several W3C working groups to ensure that the standards being developed support our goal of creating sovereign identity with security and privacy.
“We had great success in promoting verifiable credentials that support privacy by using zero-knowledge proofs (ZKP) and decentralized identifiers (DIDs).” Explained Ken Ebert, “We established relationships with new friends and strengthened our existing relationships with other developers and communities.”
