  • How do I start on SciProfiles?
    1. Create a SciProfiles Account.
    • Go to https://sciprofiles.com/ and input your name, email address, and password (at least eight letters, with at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, and one number without spaces) to register.


    • Click the link in the email you received for validation. An account will be created for you.
    • If you already have an MDPI account (an account registered on platforms including SuSy, SciForum, Preprints, Encyclopedia, and MDPI.com), you can directly log in to SciProfiles with your registered email and password.

    1. Set up your profile.
    • Log in to SciProfiles.
    • Select your subject and keywords.
    • Fill in your basic info, including your title, short biography, and profile URL.

    1. Improve your profile.
    • Add an avatar to better promote your profile/publications.
    • Send a Post to say Hi to all SciProfiles.
    • Add publications, conferences, and projects to show your academic experience.
  • How do I link my ORCID?

    1. Click on the small gear icon at the top right corner of the screen.
    2. Choose “Edit My Profile” to go to your Basic Info page.
    3. Click "VERIFY ORCID".


    4. Log in to your ORCID account and authorize MDPI to access.

    If you got the message "The provided ORCID is already in use by another profile", please contact info@sciprofiles.com.

  • How do I add additional emails?
    1. Click the small gear icon at the top right corner of the screen.
    2. Choose “Edit My Profile” to go to your Basic Info page.
    3. Click the “Add Email” button.


    4. Input your new email address and click “Submit”.
    5. You can verify your email address in two ways: by either entering the password of the new email address or by sending an activation email to the new email address

  • How do I add/change my photo?

    1. Click your avatar on the "Home" page or "My Profile" page.


    2. Click “Upload photo” to select the photo (the maximum allowable size is 5.12 MB) you wish to upload.
    3. Click “Apply” to upload your photo.

  • How do I add my publications?

    The easiest way to add a publication is by adding additional emails under which it was published. The system will automatically include all publications associated with that email.

    Other methods to add publications:

    1. Import from ORCID ID
    2. Search by DOI/PMID
    3. Upload a BibTex file

    Steps to Add Publications:

    1. Click “Publications” on the top navigation bar.
    2. Click “My Publications” and then “Add a New Publication”.
    3. If your ORCID is linked and authorized, click “Import” to import from your ORCID account. Alternatively, choose “Search” (by DOI/PMID) or “Upload” (BibTex file).

  • How do I claim authorship for a particular publication?
    1. Search the publications you want to claim via the search box on the top right corner of the page.
    2. Find the article and click the title to go to the article page.
    3. Click “Request”, choose “Authorship”, and then select your name in the dropdown list. If you cannot find your name in the list, leave it as “New”.


    4. Click “Request” on the popup page to confirm your action. The article will be displayed on your profile once the authorship request is approved.
  • How do I delete a publication that is not mine?

    If you find a publication on your profile that is not yours, follow the steps below:

    1. Click “Publications” on the top navigation bar.
    2. Remove the publication that is not yours.
    3. Click “Remove Authorship” to confirm the deletion.

    If the publication cannot be removed, please contact info@sciprofiles.com.

    Please note that there is a delay for database updates. Please check again 30 min later.

  • How do I manage the notification settings?
    1. Click the small gear icon at the top right corner of the screen.
    2. Click “Notification Settings” to go to the notification center page.
    3. Select or cancel the notification items and notification channels(website and email).
    4. Choose the email frequency.

  • How do I manage the SciFeed?

    SciFeed keeps you informed by email as soon as new articles matching your queries are published from more than 165 million publications.

    1. Click “Publications” on the top navigation bar.
    2. Click “SciFeed” and then you can add new or manage all the subscriptions you have already added.

  • How do I close the profile?

    1. Click the small gear icon at the top right corner of the screen.
    2. Click “Settings and Privacy” to go to the setting page.
    3. Click “Close Account” at the bottom of the page.
    4. Select a reason and confirm your action by clicking “Submit”.

    Your profile will now be invisible to the public.

    Attention: Your profile will be activated once you log in to SciProfiles again. If you have duplicate accounts, please contact info@sciprofiles.com for help.

Account Settings
  • Where can I find my account Settings?
    1. Click the small gear icon at the top right corner of the screen.
    2. Click “Settings And Privacy” to go to the settings page. You can set your password, newsfeed preferences, public visibility, and message settings or close your account on this page.

  • How do I change my password?

    1. Click the small gear icon at the top right corner of the screen.
    2. Click “Settings and Privacy” to go to the settings page. You can change your password here.
    3. Click “Change password” to confirm the change.

  • How to change my primary email?
    1. Click the small gear icon at the top right corner of the screen.
    2. Click “Edit My Profile” to go to the User Info page.
    3. Choose the email you would like to use as your primary email and click the “Set as primary” button.
  • How do I close my profile?
    1. Click the small gear icon at the top right corner of the screen.
    2. Click “Settings and Privacy” to go to the settings page.
    3. Click “Close Account” at the bottom of the page.
    4. Select a reason and confirm your action by clicking “Submit”.

    Your profile will now be invisible to the public.

  • How do I edit/add my short biography?
    1. Click the “My Profile” on the top bar to go to your profile page.
    2. Click the pencil icon beside "Short Biography" on the left side of the page to edit your short biography.
    3. Click “Submit” to confirm your edit.

  • How do I link my ORCID?

    1. Click the small gear icon at the top right corner of the screen.
    2. Click “Edit My Profile” to go to the user information page.
    3. Click "VERIFY ORCID".


    4. Log in to your ORCID account and authorize MDPI to access.

  • How do I add additional institution?

    1. Click the small gear icon at the top right corner on the homepage.
    2. Click “Edit My Profile” to go to the user information page.
    3. Click the “Add” button under the current institution to add additional institution and department (optional) information.
    4. Click the “Save Basic info” button to confirm the changes.


    Attention: The institution placed on the top of the list is considered as primary. You can change your primary institution by dragging it down within the icon at the end.

  • How can I manage my publications?
    1. Click “Publications” on the top navigation bar to view your publication list.
    2. To add more publications, click “Add a New Publication” button.
    3. To remove authorship from a single publication, click “Remove” button.
    4. To check your pending publications and provide additional information, click “Pending Publications” under the “Publications Import” menu.
  • How can I edit my research keywords?
    You can edit your research keywords & expertise on your profile page directly.

  • How do I add/edit my career information?
    1. Click the small gear icon at the top right corner of the screen.
    2. Click “Edit My Profile” to go to the user information page.
    3. Click “Add new career” at the bottom of the page to add your experience or click "Edit" to update.

  • How do I add/edit honors & awards information?
    1. Click the small gear icon at the top right corner of the screen.
    2. Click “Edit My Profile” to go to the user information page.
    3. Click “Add new award” at the bottom of the page if you do not have any award information yet.
    4. Click “Edit” button to update the current information.

Publications
  • Why some of my publications are automatically listed in my profile while others are not?

    SciProfiles is a central hub for all MDPI platforms. Here is how it works:

    • Automatic Matching: Publications you have published with MDPI or indexed by Scilit (an MDPI-powered database) will be automatically matched with your account and listed in your profile.

    • Pending Publications: If a publication is not in our database or lacks key information, it will go to your pending publications list. You will need to validate these pending publications before they can be added to your profile.

    • SciProfiles Admin Assistance: SciProfiles administrators will check the authorship requests in due course.

  • How do I add my publications?

  • How do I connect with other scholars?

    To reach out to fellow scholars, follow these simple steps:

    1. Visit the profile page of the scholar you’d like to contact.
    2. Click the “Send Message” button.
    3. Write your message and hit send.


    Messages are private and visible only to you and the recipient. Happy networking!

  • How do I delete a conversation?

    To remove a conversation, follow these steps:

    1. Sidebar Option:
    • Click the three dots next to the specific conversation in the message sidebar.
    • Select the “Delete” button.



    2. Dialog Box Option:
    • Click the three dots at the top left corner of the dialog box.
    • Select “Delete" button.



    Remember, once deleted, the conversation will be gone forever.

  • How do I block a conversation?

    To prevent further communication with someone, follow these steps:

    1. Sidebar Option:
    • Click the three dots next to the specific conversation in the message sidebar.
    • Select “Block.”

    2. Dialog Box Option:
    • Click the three dots at the top left corner of the dialog box.
    • Select “Block”.
  • How do I report a conversation?

    If you come across messages that are inappropriate, illegal, or violate our policies, follow these steps:

    1. Go to the dialog box you want to report.
    2. Click the three dots in the top left corner of the dialog box.
    3. Select “Report.”

  • How do I manage my message settings?

    To customize your message settings, follow these steps:

    1. Sidebar Option:

    • Update your message preferences there.
