Equipment failure and near-miss data for a safer Outer Continental Shelf
SafeOCS is an industrywide database on near-miss and precursor safety events. Your participation in SafeOCS complements other safety and equipment reliability efforts and adds to the combined knowledge to make the OCS a safer place to work and operate.
Sponsored by the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), but independently administered by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics’ (BTS) Precursor Safety Data Analysis Program, SafeOCSincludes two mandatory reporting programs, related to failures within Well Control Equipment (WCE) systems and Safety and Pollution Prevention Equipment (SPPE), as well as a voluntary reporting program for near-miss and other safety-related events, called the Industry Safety Data (ISD) program.
Confidential data shared with SafeOCS is protected under the Confidential Information Protection and Statistical Efficiency Act (CIPSEA) (44 U.S.C. § 3501 note). Learn more about CIPSEA protections.
