Remoter: Remote Desktop VNC and RDP by Remoter Labs 2022-05-01T01:02:31Z https://remoterlabs.com/feed/atom/ WordPress raf <![CDATA[RemoterFusion 0.7.0 is out!]]> http://rafsoftware.com/rafsoftware/home/?p=1074 2011-09-21T22:07:38Z 2011-09-21T22:01:26Z
Please update your version of RemoterFusion, or download it here.

Changes:

-Fixed problem with certain routers that was preventing the update message from being sent
correctly.
-Not mapping port 22 anymore (not used yet)
-Fixed manual mapping ip address query timer
-Only start port mapping if the computer is registered. This prevents RemoterFusion from
even attempting to connect to the server before the user registers the computer.

raf <![CDATA[Remoter VNC 2.02 is out!]]> http://rafsoftware.com/rafsoftware/home/?p=930 2011-04-06T03:42:12Z 2011-04-02T01:10:27Z Not an April Fools joke. Even though Remoter 2.01 just came out this Wednesday, we’re releasing this hot-fix release today!

The biggest changes are that the SSH bug that was causing Remoter to close when you attempted to connect to an SSH server that was configured to display an authentication banner has been corrected.

AND, because of user-request, I included SSH key authentication in this release as well.

Key generation needs to be done on the computer for now (puttygen, ssh-keygen). Then imported into Remoter via iTunes (see: //remoterlabs.com/rafsoftware/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=223 for details). Note that the key must not have a passphrase. Passphrase support will be added in the next release.

Hope you like it!

Raf

Edit 04/05/11: Added note about passphrase

UPDATE 2: Remoter VNC 2.0 is now Ready for Sale!

Finally, after working on version 1.9 (now called 2.0) for 2.5 months; I’m happy to let you know that I just submitted it to Apple for review.

I really hope you enjoy this new version. It has a lot of enhancements, fixes, and of course the new in-app purchase supported SSH and Telnet options (powered by PuTTY’s engine!).

SSH can not just be used to establish terminal connections, but also to tunnel VNC. Allowing for secure, VNC connections over SSH. Not only that, SSH can also be used to create any TCP tunnel you wish, and it will run while the device is in the background (for up to 10 minutes, Apple’s restriction) allowing ANY application to run though the secure tunnel. Up to 5 tunnels can be setup.

Another big improvement: Bonjour and NetBIOS support for computer discovery. Now it’s a lot easier to setup Remoter to connect to your machine. Just pick it from the Discovery List, and it’s hostname, port, and even the MAC address will auto-fill the Session Editor screen.

For a complete list of changes, see my post here:

Thanks for your support of Remoter!,

Raf.

It seems to be working perfectly: everything looks just as it did before, pages load a lot faster, and hopefully we won’t be experiencing frequent database and hosting downtime anymore.
Thanks for your patience yesterday while the migration was in progress; luckily things went very smoothly.

Installing UltraVNC

raf <![CDATA[Remoter Reviews on iTunes, and news on SSH tunneling]]> http://rafsoftware.com/rafsoftware/home/?p=838 2013-08-24T01:40:44Z 2011-01-05T07:01:05Z You might wonder why every time I release a new version of Remoter, ask customers to go and rate it on iTunes.
The reason, as I ranted in the forums, is that every time a new version of Remoter comes out, iTunes displays the overall ratings across all versions. Since earlier versions of Remoter weren’t as polished as the current version, they somehow garnered a whole bunch of 1-star reviews. Only after enough ratings are collected for the current version (~5), the average for the current version is displayed as well.
You might wonder “what’s the big deal”. Turns out that every time I release a new version of Remoter, the ratings effectively go down from 5 (or 4.5 stars) down to 3. This affects sales immensely. I see sales cut in half or more every time I release a new version. Which makes me almost want to stop releasing updates. (But I won’t, don’t worry). I just ask in exchange, that if you like Remoter, just rate (or re-rate) it when new versions come out.

Just head over to Remoter’s page on iTunes to rate it: http://is.gd/k7yxL

Thanks for listening…

Raf.

PS: I said I had some news on SSH tunneling. I almost forgot. Well, SSH tunneling is working in the pre-beta version of Remoter, and it’s fast and so far working perfectly. I’m really excited about this. This will be an in-App purchase, and will only be $0.99. But I’ll talk about it some more, once I’m closer to the release date..

But basically, this was a hotfix release for some minor problems with v1.8.

Again, if you like Remoter, please leave a review in the App Store.

Update: There was an internal delay with the processing of Remoter into the App Store, but it’s available right now.

PS: Have a Happy New Year!
