Abstract

A series of histologic techniques were utilized (Klosovskiĭ, van Gieson, Congo red, etc.) to study the angioarchitectonics and blood-brain barrier in patients with Alzheimer disease, senile dementia and in mentally healthy subjects. The brain cortex angioarchitectonics and blood-brain barrier were considerably altered in Alzheimer disease. This was pathogenically related to the changes in Meynert nucleus and locus ceruleus.
