Odido bemachtigt gewenste frequenties tijdens landelijke 5G-veiling

Odido heeft succesvol deelgenomen aan de landelijke 3,5 GHz-veiling en heeft daarbij 100 MHz gewonnen. Met deze frequenties zal Odido de capaciteit van haar 5G-netwerk massaal uitbreiden, wat de netwerkervaring en snelheid op haar mobiele netwerk verder ten goede zal komen. Odido is nu al in staat om de 3,5 GHz frequenties op meer dan de helft van het mobiele netwerk in te zetten, waardoor de meerderheid van de Odido klanten direct de voordelen van deze band kunnen ervaren.

De langverwachte veiling van deze band is vandaag door de Rijksinspectie Digitale Infrastructuur (RDI) afgerond. Odido heeft daarbij de positie in de 3,5 GHz-band bemachtigd die de provider voor ogen had. ''We zijn zeer blij met de uitkomst. Deze 3,5 GHz-band is cruciaal om met ons mobiele netwerk tot de wereldwijde top te blijven behoren. Deze nieuwe frequentieband voor 5G zorgt niet alleen voor extra capaciteit, maar ook voor meer (data)snelheid op het netwerk. Dit zal leiden tot een nóg betere netwerkervaring voor onze klanten. Bedrijven en consumenten kunnen straks rekenen op hogere datasnelheden, meer capaciteit en een grote verscheidenheid aan innovatieve toepassingen.” zegt Johan van den Branden, Chief Network and Operations Officer bij Odido.

Zodra Odido de vergunningen van RDI ontvangen heeft, zal de telecomprovider de 3,5 GHz frequenties aanzetten.

Odido successfully participated in the nationwide 3.5 GHZ auction, securing the desired frequencies on the band. With these frequencies, the telecom provider is able to further expand the capacity of its 5G network, which will further enhance the network experience and speeds on Odido's mobile network. With large-scale network upgrades expected to be completed by the end of this year and the acquisition of new frequencies during the 3.5 GHz auction, Odido is poised to offer its customers an even better network experience over the 5G network.

The activation of the 3.5 GHz band is an essential part of the 5G network, and the auction of this band was completed today by the Dutch Authority Digital Infrastructure (RDI). In the process, Odido secured the position in the 3.5 GHz band that the provider had envisioned. ''We are very happy with the outcome. Once Odido receives the licenses from RDI, the telecom provider will turn on the 3.5 GHz frequencies.
