About the NEI ORM

The NEI Office of Regenerative Medicine (ORM) provides scientific and administrative support to the vision research community. The ORM facilitates collaboration among scientists across the NIH and other federal agencies, academia, and nonprofit and private research sectors. ORM’s goal is to accelerate progress in regenerative medicine for vision.

ORM Programs & Projects

ORM coordinates NEI’s regenerative medicine programs, is involved with other relevant NIH projects, and sits on several trans-agency working groups to help advance the field of regenerative medicine on behalf of the vision community.

NEI Vision Innovation Seminars (VIS)

NEI has launched a webinar series to help promote and disseminate cutting-edge research that is relevant to the vision community.  Authors of recently published articles will present their work to the research community through this monthly webinar series. 

NEI Audacious Goals Initiative for regenerative medicine in vision identity mark

NEI Audacious Goals Initiative (AGI)

NEI is pushing the boundaries of vision science. By facilitating cross-disciplinary research, the AGI is advancing regenerative medicine to tackle the most devastating and difficult-to-treat eye diseases.

3-D ROC is spurring development of robust systems for modeling retinal diseases and testing new regenerative therapies.

NEI AMD Integrative Biology Initiative 

NEI is taking the first important steps to correlate phenotypes, genotypes, and imaging information in the newly created AMD Integrative Biology Initiative.

NIH Regenerative Medicine Innovation Project (RMIP)

This trans-NIH effort was established by the 21st Century Cures Act to accelerate progress in the field  by supporting clinical research on adult stem cells, while promoting scientific rigor and protecting patient safety.
