The North Dakota Department of Commerce today announced seven programs were awarded AmeriCorps funding totaling $1,841,616. 

 

"AmeriCorps is dedicated to helping with community needs across North Dakota,” said Commerce Workforce Division Director Katie Ralston Howe. “I’m proud to announce new funding that will elevate this work by AmeriCorps members across North Dakota. I appreciate all our AmeriCorps members – past, present, and future – for their dedication.” 

 

2024-2025 AmeriCorps Grant Recipients: 

 

Cooperstown Community Activities was awarded $102,102 in federal funds, providing $102,102 in matching funds for 10 AmeriCorps members to provide service in education and healthy futures. 

 

Jamestown Parks and Recreation was awarded $35,570 in federal funds, providing $25,772 in matching funds for 8 AmeriCorps members to provide service in the area parks throughout the summer. 

 

Souris Basin Planning Council was awarded $208,782 in federal funds, providing $107,553 in matching funds for 24 AmeriCorps Members to provide capacity building for local non-profits. 

 

Strengthen ND was awarded $808,570 in federal funds, providing $276,973 in matching funds for 110 AmeriCorps Members to provide capacity building for local non-profits. 

 

Sanford was awarded $41,908 in federal funds, providing $15,254 in matching funds for 8 AmeriCorps Members to provide Mentorship in Dickinson schools. 

 

South East Education Cooperative Reading and Math Corps was awarded $619,750 in federal funds, providing $528,200 in matching funds for 65 AmeriCorps members to provide service in reading and math. 

 

South East Education Cooperative Educator Corps was awarded $24,934 in federal funds providing for 40 AmeriCorps members to provide service in early childhood education.

 

Since 1994 more than 2,500 North Dakota residents have served more than 2.8 million hours of community service in North Dakota. Additionally, AmeriCorps members leveraged additional volunteers who assisted AmeriCorps programs with sponsored activities and projects. It is expected that approximately 265 North Dakota residents will serve as AmeriCorps members during the 2024-25 program year.
