Representatives of the Main Street Initiative (MSI) team from the North Dakota Department of Commerce will be in Lisbon for a Main Street Visit on Dec. 14. The visit will begin with a Lisbon community tour from 2-3 p.m., followed by a MSI roundtable discussion from 3-4:30 p.m.
“We are grateful to have the opportunity to meet with the leaders and residents of Lisbon,” Commerce Commissioner Josh Teigen said. “Actively engaging with communities is essential to knowing the exact needs unique to every region of the state. The visits also provide an opportunity to see first-hand all the amazing things being done across the state to create healthy, vibrant communities.”
A key portion of the Main Street Initiative Strategic Plan focuses on engaging with new and existing Main Street communities. To begin this process, the MSI team developed and sent a survey requesting communities to highlight the successes and challenges they’d potentially like to explore and share in a Main Street Visit. The outcomes of this survey were combined with previous MSI community engagement efforts such as Vibrancy Grants, Partners in Planning Grants, and the Artists on Main Street Program, to develop priorities for Main Street Visits in 2022.
