About Tokyo Police Club
In 2006, Tokyo Police Club emerged from Toronto’s rock scene, churning out fast-paced indie tunes infused with pop, punk and dance. The group, led by vocalist and bassist David Monks, charmed audiences with their off-the-cuff lyrics and deliriously joyful synth runs from keyboardist Graham Wright. Released the year they formed, their debut EP, A Lesson In Crime, earned them a record deal with indie label Saddle Creek, on which they released career-defining records like 2008’s Elephant Shell and 2010’s Champ. The band began writing more ambitious songs, like 2014’s “Argentina”, a three-part epic that showcased their development as complex songwriters. But the group slowed in the late 2010s, releasing 2018’s TPC before Monks released his solo debut, On a Wave, in 2019.
