Kelly Khumalo

Since breaking out with her chart-topping single “Qinisela” in 2005, singer/songwriter Kelly Khumalo has been one of South Africa’s most sought-after voices in the Afropop and Afrosoul scenes. Born in Spruitview in 1984, Khumalo grew up in rural KwaZulu-Natal admiring singers like Whitney Houston and fuelling her dreams of becoming a famous musician. Her debut album, TKO, set the stage for what has been a turbulent journey of superstardom. However, despite her public struggles with substance abuse, Khumalo's angelic and towering voice continues to soar above it all, ensuring that her music takes precedence. Her meditations on love, life, happiness and spirituality remain the common thread in her projects, running through her second LP, Itshitshi (2006), all the way to the multiplatinum The Voice Of Africa (2020). Along with her highly successful music career, Khumalo has also starred in numerous movies and her own reality show.
