About 1K Phew
Rapper 1K Phew is a protégé of Christian rap star Lecrea who integrates Atlanta’s trap sounds and swagger into his faith-based music. • 1K Phew grew up in Lithonia, Georgia, approximately 20 miles east of Atlanta. He was raised in a church community. • In his teens, he sold weed to pay for college. After a botched sale, the rapper’s car was shot at. Surviving the incident reinforced his faith and changed his path. • He began sharing his personal story and testimonies of faith on mixtapes like 2015’s Sunday Night and 2016’s Life. • In 2017, he appeared on “Hammer Time,” off Lecrae’s All Things Work Together album, a Top 20 hit on the Billboard 200. • Upon signing to the Christian rap leader Reach Records in 2017, he became labelmates with Lecrae, Andy Mineo, Tedashii and Trip Lee. • In 2019, 1K Phew released two volumes of his What’s Understood album series, showcasing his most polished music to date.
