Miguel debuted the Art Dealer Chic EP series in 2012, releasing volume one in February and following with the second and third in March and April, respectively. Nine years later, he picks up where he left off with a fourth instalment. Art Dealer Chic 4, true to its predecessors' legacy, sounds like little else of its time. Miguel has long been a genre-bender who seamlessly folds assorted sounds and textures into his brand of R&B, which often transcends even that classification. The opening track, “Funeral”, has the distorted grunge of Yeezus-era Kanye, while the closer, “So I Lie”, reaches for breezier auras (though not so much lyrics). Consistent across the board is Miguel's voice—best showcased on “Triangle Love” and “Thinking Out Loud”— which remains as nimble as it is captivating.
