Genre doesn't seem to mean much to behind-the-scenes songwriter/producer Freddy Wexler. Just as his sunny dance track "Lie to Me" helped bachata star Prince Royce go pop, he added some soul to Steve Aoki's EDM with "I Love It When You Cry"—and brought in some sitar to boot. Wexler's solo records are just as open-ended, with tracks like "Streetlights on Mars" (released under the pseudonym Jackson Penn) containing a galaxy of unexpected sounds.
