About Maggie Rogers
Combining the vocal structures of American folk music with the hypnotic rhythms of 21st-century electro-pop, Maggie Rogers blazed her own trail through pop to become a festival fixture in the late 2010s. Born in Maryland in 1994, Rogers immersed herself in music as a child; she won a Berklee College of Music songwriting contest in school, and she attended NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. When that school’s artist-in-residence Pharrell Williams heard her final project—the skeletal yet deeply felt song “Alaska”—he was moved to tears, and the viral video footage of his reaction became Rogers’ introduction to pop fans. She released the EP Now That the Light Is Fading in 2017, following that up in 2019 with her major-label debut, Heard It In A Past Life, which expanded Rogers’ sound through collaborations with top-tier producers like Greg Kurstin and Rostam Batmanglij. Subsequently, Rogers toured the world, playing festivals, headlining a tour and opening for HAIM, Kacey Musgraves and Mumford & Sons; she also collaborated on stage and on record with the likes of The National, Phoebe Bridgers and Dead & Company. In December 2020 she opened her vaults and released the retrospective Notes from the Archive: Recordings 2011-2016, which showcased her classically modern songwriting in its most natural state.
