About Alkaline Trio
The trio came up with the “Alkaline” part of their name while flipping through the dictionary, after agreeing that “it sounded cool.” ∙ Guitarist/vocalist Matt Skiba’s parents are both Vietnam War veterans who met while in the service. ∙ The first Alkaline Trio album, Goddamnit!, was recorded in nine days for $900. ∙ Alkaline Trio’s influences include Social Distortion, Ramones, Green Day, The Clash, Buzzcocks, Joy Division, Bauhaus, Ministry, NOFX, and The Cure. ∙ “Mercy Me” and “Fall Victim,” from 2005’s Crimson, are featured in the cult classic racing game FlatOut 2. ∙ In 2015, blink-182 asked Matt Skiba to fill in for departed singer/guitarist Tom DeLonge, and he’s been with them ever since. ∙ Brooklyn’s legendary Vinnie’s Pizzeria developed a trio of vegan pizzas for Alkaline Trio, whose guitarist is a vegetarian.
