Electronic music’s rising star venbee cuts “Your Power” to deliver an acoustic cover of the 2021 Billie Eilish track for her debut Apple Music Home Session. “The message in this song is important and empowering,” the Kent singer-songwriter tells Apple Music. “It’s beautifully written and it’s one of my favourite songs. I added some light drum ’n’ bass influences but wanted to do so without losing the original emotion of the track. How I recorded these songs is the same way that most of my songs start—alone, in my bedroom, very intimate. It’s where I’m most comfortable. I also love doing acoustic versions, they’re so fun.” From that bedroom, venbee also created an unplugged retread of her single “gutter”. “It tells a lot of my personal story, the ups and downs of my short life so far,” she says. “It’s a very special song for me because I genuinely never thought I’d make it this far—and that’s what the song’s about.” Dropping in May 2023, this session heralds a busy summer for venbee as she prepares to make her Worthy Farm debut. “I’m so looking forward to playing Glastonbury,” she says. “Hands down. Playing Glastonbury, releasing new music, travelling and making more friends. All the fun things. That’s what I’m most excited for.”
