For our Apple Music Home Session series, South African soul singer-songwriter Lloyiso gives the honest, vulnerable stories he shares on his debut EP, 2023’s Seasons, an even more intimate feel. “The process of working on these songs was one of the longest and soul-searching journeys I’ve ever had to go through,” Lloyiso tells Apple Music. “I’ve seen myself grow from just writing from the top of my head to the bottom of my heart. I’ve realised that it’s more about me being vulnerable than just writing something to be cool. I feel like I know myself now more than I ever have.” Here, he reimagines two of his most introspective singles. “‘What I Would Say’ was one of those songs that started out with just a piano,” Lloyiso explains. “It felt complete even with just the piano before adding anything else. ‘Give a Little Kindness’ speaks about freeing yourself from your thoughts and understanding that life is how it is, and you just have to deal with and accept it.” Lloyiso completes his Home Session with a cover of “The Way It Is”, Bruce Hornby’s 1986 single. “Growing up, this has been one of my favourite songs,” Lloyiso confesses, “and I’ve always wanted to make my own version of it, because it relates so much to how the world has evolved, and how music has brought people together.”
