Today’s Country

Megan Moroney’s long-awaited sophomore album, Am I Okay?, is out now, marking one of the bigger country releases of the year thus far. On the record’s sneakily catchy title track, the singer-songwriter surprises herself with her feelings for a new flame, singing, “I think I’m really happy, I think I want to stay/Oh my god, am I okay?” Moroney notes that while the title might evoke heartbreak, it’s not “a heart-wrenching song.” “It's like, you're actually happy for once and you're asking yourself, ‘Oh my god, am I okay?’” she says. “That's how I felt at one time. I think that when I had hope in a relationship with this guy, it lasted for a month or two until he showed his true colors. But we live and we learn. We got a good song out of it and then we moved on.” This playlist tracks what’s happening from the heart of the country scene to its outer edges.
