Vince Guaraldi Trio

About Vince Guaraldi Trio

Led by renowned pianist Vince Guaraldi, the Vince Guaraldi Trio maintained jazz’s relevancy through the 1970s, while becoming one of the genre’s best-selling acts of all time. ∙ “Cast Your Fate to the Wind,” the trio’s 1962 B-side single, earned Guaraldi a Grammy Award for Best Original Jazz Composition. ∙ He composed 17 of Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts specials soundtracks—six of which peaked in the top 15 of Billboard’s Traditional Jazz Albums chart. ∙ Inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and Library of Congress, the four-times Platinum A Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack is the second best-selling jazz album ever. ∙ Early Guaraldi Trio drummer Jerry Granelli formed the free-jazz band Light Sound Dimension, who were recognized by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as pioneers of psychedelic music. ∙ Famed pianist George Winston paid tribute to Guaraldi on two cover LPs, released in 1996 and 2010, that peaked at No. 1 and No. 2 respectively on Billboard’s New Age Albums chart. ∙ Nicknamed Dr. Funk by his colleagues, Guaraldi’s previously unreleased single “Calling Dr. Funk” was posthumously issued in 2009 on the chart-topping LP The Definitive Vince Guaraldi.
