After going stratospheric with its 2022 cumbia-norteña cover of “No Se Va” by Colombian pop juggernauts Morat, Grupo Frontera kept its foot on the gas to become one of música mexicana's top dogs. Formed three years prior in Edinburg, Texas, but with roots in the Mexican states of Tamaulipas and Nuevo León, the meteoric ensemble harnessed corrido, sierreño and cumbia to forge a textured, chart-topping sound. Its 2023 collaboration with Bad Bunny on “un x100to” was a global smash, leading Grupo Frontera to become the first Mexican band to play the Coachella main stage when joining the reggaetón superstar during his fabled headlining set.
