When it comes to atmospheric pop, few Punjabi artists can hold a candle to Guru Randhawa—but he isn’t just about the music. Randhawa has a penchant for drawing from his experiences in love and life to add depth to his pop bangers. And his album G Thing continues this trend, covering a multitude of thoughts, emotions and styles, with help from the likes of singer, songwriter and producer Sukh-E Muzical Doctorz and desi rap ace Bohemia. There’s synth-pop on “Déjà Vu”—with producer Sanjoy and composer, lyricist and vocalist Raj Ranjodh—and a trap edge to “Love Prayer” (another Sanjoy collab), plus an irresistible old-school hip-hop vibe on “G Class”.
