Bedford, UK, producer Lil Silva (real name: Tyrone Jermaine Carter) has been pushing UK funky, house and grime forward for more than a decade. But it’s only now that he’s released his proper full-length solo album, Yesterday Is Heavy, a collaborative record that only extends his range. It features artists such as Sampha, Charlotte Day Wilson, Little Dragon and BADBADNOTGOOD working across the UK dance and electronic music spectrum. For his Selects playlist—in which DJs and producers showcase their favourite tracks of any given moment—he highlights some of those partnerships. The set “consists of songs that I love or have worked on, both past and present”, he tells Apple Music. That mostly means his own forward-thinking house cuts, and some from the likes of Omar-S, Julio Bashmore and I. JORDAN, but also grime from Skepta and rap from Drake and Kendrick, plus much more. “Hope you enjoy this as much as I do,” he says. Check out all of Lil Silva’s Selects, and if you hear something you like, add it to your library.
