About Wild Rivers
Wild Rivers seek catharsis in delicate, often heartbreaking folk-pop. Co-lead vocalists Khalid Yassein and Devan Glover serve as the Canadian band’s anchor, their airy vocals seamlessly melding together over Andrew Oliver’s nimble bass and guitar. For their 2016 self-titled debut album, the group weave those smooth harmonies through warm, twang-touched melodies that echo with the cozy, zen-like feel of ‘70s Laurel Canyon rock spun with Southern charm. Their candid tales of lost love have grown more expansive—and especially urgent—with each release, including their 2020 EP Songs to Break Up To, a low-key, synth-touched collection that documents Yassein’s heartache. That theme has since persisted, with singles like “Love Gone Wrong”, a cinematic tearjerker that slowly, softly soars. It’s a song that sums up Wild Rivers’ MO: to transform gut-wrenching experiences into soul-stirring anthems.
