About HONNE

Infusing electronic music with soulful pop undertones, the UK duo HONNE has found success while pushing beyond the boundaries of the dancefloor. ∙ Members James Hatcher and Andy Clutterbuck met in college and officially formed HONNE in 2014, taking the name from the Japanese word for a person’s true feelings and desires. ∙ Following a series of EPs, the group released their 2016 debut album, Warm on a Cold Night, which reached No. 37 on the UK album charts. ∙ They enlisted such artists as Joe Goddard (of Hot Chip fame), SOHN, and Riton to rework their first LP for 2016’s Warm on a Cold Night (Remixed). ∙ Their 2018 sophomore full-length, Love Me / Love Me Not, featured several collaborations, including “Location Unknown” with maverick singer-songwriter Georgia. ∙ HONNE produced “seoul,” a track off RM’s 2018 mixtape mono., and the BTS bandleader returned the favor the following year by guesting on a new version of the duo’s “Crying Over You.” ∙ They appeared on “Radar,” a track from EDM artist Whethan’s 2018 Life of a Wallflower Vol. 1 and also featured on “Overdose,” a song from electronic act SG Lewis’ 2019 EP Dawn. In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. For me it was singing in my primary school assembly at the age of 9 or 10. I remember standing up in front of everyone and singing “I Can See Clearly Now” by Johnny Nash. I think my teacher Mrs Jones was really taken aback. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Kendrick Lamar, good kid, m.A.A.d city (Deluxe Version) Radiohead, In Rainbows Bon Iver, Bon Iver Radiohead were our teenage years. In Rainbows came out shortly after James and I met at university. We sat and listened to it together in our dormitory canteen. Bon Iver is our favourite artist when travelling long journeys and Kendrick is king.
