800 BC

800 BC

In interviews leading up to his 800 BC project, Brooklyn MC Fivio Foreign joked that the “BC” portion of the title stood for “before corona”. It made for a charming quip, but the music of 800 BC is wholly representative of a time when Fivio and his crew ran free, showing off jewelry and clothes (“Big Drip”), pulling up on women that caught his eye (“Wetty”, “Issa Vibe”) or just terrorising New York City (“Demons & Goblins”). 800 BC is Brooklyn drill music, and Fivio’s flow, aggressive and choppy, is tailor-made for it. Offsetting that signature gruffness are guest spots from Lil Tjay, Meek Mill, Lil Baby and Quavo, the latter two of the “Big Drip” remix, having aligned themselves early with one of New York City’s most promising new voices.
