Being homeschooled by the beach on Australia's Sunshine Coast gave Byron Bay-based singer-songwriter Ziggy Alberts a particular appreciation for surfing and the ocean. It accounts for the laid-back, Jack Johnson-esque acoustic folk-pop of songs such as “Heaven” and “Runaway”, a sound he developed while living in his van and busking on the streets of his adopted coastal hometown. The sea also informs his lyrical themes, whether addressing the issue of ocean animals in captivity (“Start Over”) or courting a partner in “Simple Things (The Ocean Song)” and asking, “Could you love the ocean with me?”
