About The Rezillos
Modern-day post- and pop punk would not be the same without the Rezillos’ contribution. The group formed in 1976 in Edinburgh, Scotland, and melded their love of doo-wop and pop melodies with punk aggression. The band consumed covers from the glam, girl group, and British beat canon and spit them out in their “new wave beat” style. Their single “Can’t Stand My Baby” attracted major label attention, but also signaled a line-up change. By the time the band signed to Sire records, several line-up changes had ensued. After a smashing tour with the Ramones and the caustic hit “Top of the Pops,” the band fell apart, leaving founding members Eugene Reynolds and Fay Fife to rename the remainder the Revillos. The rest of the band became Shake, while member Luke Warm (aka Jo Callis) went on to form the Human League. The Rezillos beat, however, still pulses into the '00s as heard on the 2008 single “Number One Boy.”
