About Molotov
For more than two decades, outspoken Mexican rap-rockers Molotov have pushed boundaries (and ruffled plenty of feathers) while delighting fans on both sides of the border. ∙ The racy artwork and provocative lyrics of their 1997 double-Platinum debut, ¿Dónde Jugarán las Niñas?, stirred up controversy but also earned rave reviews and a Grammy nomination. ∙ Molotov’s 1999 sophomore LP, Apocalypshit, was produced by famed Beastie Boys collaborator Mario Caldato, Jr. ∙ “Here Comes the Mayo,” a collaboration with the UK outfit Dub Pistols, opened their Grammy-nominated soundtrack for the 2001 film Y Tu Mamá También. ∙ The rotoscoped video for “Frijolero,” a cumbia-rap cut from 2003’s Grammy-nominated Dance and Dense Denso, won a Latin Grammy Award for Best Music Video. ∙ In 2008, their song “Apocalypshit” was featured in the pilot episode of Breaking Bad, during the iconic scene when Walt and Jesse flee through the desert in their RV. ∙ They’ve won four Best Rock Album Latin Grammys, including 2004’s covers LP Con Todo Respeto and the live Desde Rusia con Amor and ¿Dónde Jugarán lxs Niñxs?.
