“It’s an honour and privilege to record a Home Session,” Yuin rapper Nooky tells Apple Music. “It was fun reproducing these tracks as I got to explore some other ideas for them that were part of their original inceptions.” While the messages within the original versions of 2022’s “Run Dingo” and 2023’s “We Are Warriors” are as hard-hitting, powerful and forthright as ever, each looking back on the mistreatment and strength of First Nations people in Australia, the addition of guitars, jazzy beats and more melodic layers provides a different musical feel altogether. Nooky, aka Corey Webster, also revisits the Silverchair classic “Tomorrow”, adding new hip-hop verses that connect the track’s original themes—and a sample of Daniel Johns’ original vocals in the chorus—with his own life and journey. “Covering ‘Tomorrow’ was incredibly fun, and it’s got me excited to do more in the near future,” he says. “Listening to the original and then drawing connections between their words and my experience as a blackfulla was something I enjoyed doing. The original was a banger, and getting the tick from Daniel Johns himself was fucking mad!”
