About JISOO
Known as the “moodmaker” of BLACKPINK for the ways in which she centres the group's energy, JISOO puts her pop-star power to work across a number of creative disciplines. In addition to serving as lead vocalist of the K-pop girl squad, BLACKPINK's unnie (aka older sister) is also a K-drama actor and fashion icon. And though she may have been the final member of BLACKPINK to release her own music, seven years after the group's official debut, the delay did nothing to hinder JISOO's success in the solo spotlight. Born 김지수 (Kim Ji-soo) in Gunpo, South Korea, in 1995, JISOO became a trainee under music agency YG Entertainment in 2011 and debuted—alongside JENNIE, ROSÉ and LISA, as BLACKPINK—in 2016. Known for their bold raps, BLACKPINK would go on to become one of the most popular girl groups of all time. Their debut song “BOOMBAYAH” reached No. 1 on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart, and was followed by other hits like "DDU-DU DDU-DU" and "Kill This Love”. The group has also collaborated with artists including Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga, Cardi B and Selena Gomez, and in 2023, they became the first Korean act to headline Coachella. JISOO helped pen the lyrics for 2020’s “Lovesick Girls”, one of BLACKPINK's most popular songs, written as a hopeful track for girls who have been hurt in relationships yet still look for love. She also contributed to “Yeah Yeah Yeah”, the fourth track on BLACKPINK’s 2022 studio album Born Pink. In March 2023, JISOO made her solo debut with Me, which featured the midtempo, finger-snapping hit “FLOWER.”
