Willie Nelson has as deep a songbook as anyone in pop, and here he tries to wring something new from even his oldest hits. Where "Crazy" goes blues, "Hello Walls" swings in deluded bliss. And if Willie's own classics weren't enough, he gets Johnny Paycheck for "Take This Job and Shove It" and Emmylou Harris for "Will the Circle Be Unbroken". They enter such a deep groove that even an hour and a half in, the album's end still feels abrupt.
