Everything Is 4

Everything Is 4

The fourth album in six years from the hardest working man in pop. He’s not strayed too far from his platinum-lined formula—this is an expertly, expensively crafted set of very danceable, very catchy R&B-infected pop. It’s a hell of a lot funkier, though. The squelchy "X2CU" and the 80s-imbued "Love Me Down" are irresistible party starters, while he tries out a sultry synth sound on "Cheyenne". There’s a starry guestlist of helpers, of course: Jennifer Lopez lights up tender sun-downer "Try Me"; Meghan Trainor injects some of her signature doo-wop pop into "Painkiller"; and Keith Urban and Stevie Wonder take it to church on the fevered "Broke."
