British alt-rock band Wolf Alice was formed in 2010 by singer Ellie Rowsell and guitarist Joff Oddie. ∙ Wolf Alice started as an acoustic duo before finding their signature grungy sound with their 2013 debut single, “Fluffy.” ∙ “Moaning Lisa Smile”—the breakthrough single off their Gold-certified 2015 debut LP, My Love Is Cool—was their first Top 10 hit and received a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Performance. ∙ Director Michael Winterbottom followed the band on tour and filmed them backstage to form the basis for his 2016 docudrama film, On The Road. ∙ Lead singer Ellie Rowsell collaborated with the band Alt-J on their 2017 album, Relaxer, and appeared on the singles “3WW” and “Deadcrush.” ∙ The band’s 2015 single “Silk” was prominently featured in the film T2: Trainspotting, by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle. ∙ In 2018, their second album, Visions of a Life, was awarded the prestigious Mercury Prize, beating out competition that included Arctic Monkeys and Florence + the Machine.
