About Machine Head
Following his split from the thrash outfit Vio-lence, Robb Flynn teamed up with Adam Duce in 1991 to form the Oakland, CA, metal band Machine Head. ∙ Burn My Eyes, the band’s 1994 thrash-oriented debut LP, sold more than 400,000 copies, becoming Roadrunner Records’ fastest-selling debut ever. ∙ Although the nu-metal sound of 1999’s The Burning Red proved divisive among fans, it was the first Machine Head album to crack the top half of the Billboard 200 chart. ∙ The Blackening won Best Album honors at the 2007 year’s Kerrang! Awards and was later named Metal Hammer’s Album of the Decade. ∙ “Aesthetics of Hate,” the first single off The Blackening, earned the group a Grammy Award nomination for Best Metal Performance. ∙ The band’s highest-charting album to date, Bloodstone & Diamonds, debuted at No. 21 on the Billboard 200 upon its release in 2014. ∙ In 2019, Flynn enlisted former members Logan Mader and Chris Kontos to join him for a tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of Machine Head’s seminal Burn My Eyes.
