About Jvck James
R&B singer-songwriter Jvck James’ career had a considerably early start. Born in East London in 1998, he began posting cover tunes to social media at the age of 12. James was raised in a churchgoing Jamaican family, exposed to gospel and reggae music early on, but he also grew up adoring the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Lauryn Hill, D’Angelo and Michael Jackson. His first official single, “Extroverted Lovers”, appeared in 2017, showcasing a seamless blend of ’90s R&B influences and spare, artful production. The next year, James was on his first tour, supporting the singer Mahalia and getting ecstatic press along the way. By 2020, James had found his way to RCA Records, releasing such sultry, sensual singles as “Overseas” and “Favours”. He has continued to evolve, with an even more nuanced production approach on his 2021 Joyride EP. In 2022, he was named an Apple Music Up Next honouree.
