Stop Thinking Start Feeling

Twin brothers Cosmo and Patrick Liney wanted their third album to evoke a heady sense of fantasy. The aptly titled Stop Thinking Start Feeling very much fulfils that brief, playing like a closely curated jukebox of electro-pop escapism. While the Sydney duo prove on opener “Telephone” that they don’t need to rely on guest stars for their slick, disco-indebted valentines, they quickly follow that initial salvo with an impressive slate of globe-trotting talent. London duo Franc Moody help to make “Fantasy” the most outright earworm on an album full of them, while Melbourne singer Forest Claudette leans into the soft-focus strut of “Borrowed Time” and French Korean singer-songwriter spill tab gives a sleepily charismatic vocal turn on “Eating Heartache”. The dreamy confection of “Bang My Line” finds Zimbabwean Australian rapper Tkay Maidza much mellower than we usually hear her, and Zimbabwean American singer Shungudzo nails the mirrorball bubblegum of “Gimme Some More”. “Chance on You” even reunites Cosmo’s Midnight with English Australian producer/vocalist KUČKA, who sang lead on their first gold-certified single in their home country (2015’s “Walk With Me”). But this is no victory lap: Stop Thinking Start Feeling sees the Liney siblings perfect the light touch that makes everything they do feel so effortlessly blissful.
