Cordae announced himself in 2018 with a flip of Eminem’s “My Name Is”, an audacious debut from an MC who has proved his musical versatility and lyrical prowess in the years since. Born in 1997 in Raleigh, North Carolina, Cordae was originally part of the Southern collective YBN before releasing his debut full-length, The Lost Boy, in 2019; it blended modern hip-hop with neo-soul and established him as a bright young talent. YBN disbanded in 2020, but Cordae forged on, collaborating with Stevie Wonder on the protest-funk cut “Can’t Put It In The Hands Of Fate” that year and bringing Wonder as well as peers like Lil Wayne, H.E.R. and Roddy Ricch into the fold for 2022’s From a Birds Eye View.
