About Seaway
Known for their exuberant brand of punk-pop, Canada's Seaway first gained attention in the 2010s playing the Warped Tour and Riot Festival. The band's mix of hardcore-punk energy and pop hooks translated into chart success with 2015's Colour Blind, which landed in the Top 30 of the Billboard Independent Albums chart and number three on the Heatseekers chart. They have continued to mature and expand their sound, as on 2017's Vacation and 2020's Big Vibe. Formed in Oakville, Ontario in 2011, Seaway originally featured the talents of vocalist Ryan Locke, vocalist/guitarist Patrick Carleton, guitarist Andrew Eichinger, bassist Adam Shoji, and drummer Ken Taylor. Following the recording of several EPs, the group made their full-length album debut with 2013's Hoser. From there, the band garnered supporting slots with Major League, Driver Friendly, and others. By summer 2014, Seaway had signed with Pure Noise Records and delivered a fourth EP. The following year, they toured with Bayside and made appearances at several festivals including the U.K.'s Slam Dunk Festival and the Warped Tour. In October 2015, the group returned with their sophomore album, Colour Blind, featuring the singles "Freak" and "Best Mistake." The album was well-received and peaked at number three on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart. The band then joined the Wonder Years, Knuckle Puck, and others on tour. In 2017, Seaway delivered their third studio effort, Vacation, featuring production from Mike Green (All Time Low, 5 Seconds of Summer, Semi-Precious Weapons). Included on the album was the lead single "Apartment." That same year, the group covered the Chainsmokers and Halsey hit "Closer" for Punk Goes Pop, Vol. 7. Fresh Produce, a collection of B-sides and re-recorded fan favorites, arrived in 2019 just before singer Carleton parted ways with the band. In October 2020, Seaway returned with the power pop-infused Big Vibe, which found Locke taking over as the sole lead singer. ~ Matt Collar
