Overview
On December 31, 2021, the president approved a major disaster declaration (formally referred to as DR4634) to the state of Colorado to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by wildfire and straight-line winds beginning on December 30, 2021. The major disaster declaration activated the FEMA Public Assistance Program and Individual Assistance Programs for Boulder County.
This follows the state of emergency declared by Governor Jared Polis on December 30, 2021, due to the Marshall fire. The damage assessments from the disaster are listed below as of January 7, 2022 at 8 a.m.

Individual Assistance Program for DR4634

FEMA Individual Assistance Program provides assistance to individuals and households through financial and direct services to eligible individuals and households affected by a disaster, who have uninsured or underinsured necessary expenses and serious needs. - FEMA Mitigation Helpline Activated: FEMA Mitigation Helpline is available to survivors who are ready and interested in talking with a repair/rebuilding specialist. The Helpline number is 833-336-2487 (833-FEMA-4US) and is available during the day Monday through Friday. This is for mitigation guidance only.
U.S. Small Business Administration Program
The SBA offers disaster assistance in the form of low-interest loans to businesses, nonprofit organizations, homeowners and renters located in regions affected by declared disasters. SBA also provides eligible small businesses and nonprofit organizations with working capital to help overcome the economic injury of a declared disaster.
The assistance from SBA falls under the individual assistance programs.
Public Assistance Grant Programs for DR4634
FEMA’s Public Assistance Program provides supplemental grants to state, tribal, territorial and local governments, and certain types of private non-profits (PNP) so that communities can quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies. FEMA also encourages the protection of these damaged facilities from future events by providing assistance for hazard mitigation measures during the recovery process.
