Children were treated to a day out in St. Columbs Park where they made and painted fairy doors and bird houses. Children had a fantastic time and had lots and lots of fun looking for fairies in the park.

Business First 40RTY Under 40RTY Awards

Young people involved in our Youth Champions Group won the Judges Award at the Business First 2018 Northern Ireland 40RTY Under 40RTY Awards. Kayla, Megan and Whitney were presented with the award at a special ceremony at the Malone Lodge in Belfast. Thank you to Gavin Walker and the team at Business First and to GroundworkNI for sponsoring our young people and attending the event. We had a fantastic day.

Pickled Duck Cafe Fundraiser

The wonderful Kiera Duddy and staff at the Pickled Duck Cafe in L’Derry organised a fundraising evening to raise awareness and money for kinship carers and their children. Staff cooked up the most amazing food ever and ‘Kuddles’ our Kinship Care Bear came along to hand out copies of his storybook. A huge THANK YOU to Kiera for making it happen and to everyone who came along and helped raise £1,050.

Creggan Country Park

Pudsey and the Grow Bus

We would like to say a massive THANK YOU to Heather Pollock and the Green Team at Groundwork NI for bringing their Grow Bus to our Kinship Care Support Service in L’Derry. Children ate bugs, planted cress, painted bug hotels and
made popcorn. Pudsey from BBC Children in Need made a surprise appearance and met children and their carers.

Steamvale Open Farm

Children spent the day at Streamvale Open Farm in Belfast where they met goats, chickens, ponies and puppies. Children fell in love with the puppies and did not want to leave.
